Graduate Research Talent Scheme — 2027 Round 1
The Graduate Research Talent Scheme supports high-performing graduate researchers planning to commence in 2027. Adelaide University's official scholarship page states Round 1 is open and closes 2 November 2026. Two additional rounds are planned for 2027, with dates to be checked again.
Who is eligible?
Domestic applicants can apply. International applicants must have completed, or be completing in 2026, a relevant Australian or New Zealand qualification. A student whose only qualifying degree was completed outside Australia and New Zealand is not eligible for this specific round.
Degree admission requires relevant research preparation and a suitable principal supervisor. International research applicants must obtain written supervisor support and provide a research proposal, structured CV and required academic documents. There is no universal published-paper minimum or GRE requirement established from the reviewed degree pages. English standards are usually IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 per band, but some disciplines require higher scores.
Funding and costs
Successful awardees receive scholarship support under the applicable Adelaide University Research Scholarship or Research Training Program conditions. These may include a living stipend and 100% tuition waiver. The published 2026 full-time AURS stipend was AUD 36,500 per year; this is NOT a verified 2027 award rate.
For a non-scholarship-funded PhD, the official 2027 annual international tuition bands are AUD 42,600 for selected humanities/business fields, AUD 51,600 for most STEM fields, and AUD 54,800 for medicine/dentistry/veterinary fields. A scholarship waiver is not automatic. A separate scholarship application fee has not been verified; check the university application system for any charges.
