Academic overview & excellence

Tracing its pedagogical origins to the 1830 Trier School of Design, Hochschule Trier's Campus Gestaltung houses the disciplines of Architecture, Interior Architecture, Intermedia Design, Fashion Design, and Gemstones & Jewellery. Housed in the monumental neoclassical building (Gebäude L) at Irminenfreihof on the banks of the Moselle, the faculty combines historical atelier craftsmanship with bleeding-edge virtual reality labs, generative 3D prototyping, and sustainable textile circularity.

Research admissions & criteria

Admission to undergraduate design programs requires the German Fachhochschulreife or international university entrance qualification, accompanied by passing an artistic aptitude examination (Mappenauswahl) and personal interview. Master of Arts programs demand an accredited bachelor's degree in design or architecture with a minimum grade of 2.3 and an advanced portfolio. International applicants apply via uni-assist and must demonstrate German C1 proficiency.
