Southern Utah University (SUU) is a public comprehensive university set against the red rocks of Cedar City, Utah. Affectionately designated as 'University of the Parks' due to its proximity to Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Capitol Reef National Parks, SUU is renowned for its premier helicopter and airplane flight academy (one of the largest collegiate flight programs in North America), the Tony Award-winning Utah Shakespeare Festival, and top-tier programs in outdoor recreation, cybersecurity, and engineering.
SUU comprises seven colleges: the College of Aerospace Sciences and Technology, the College of Engineering and Computational Sciences, the College of Health Sciences, the Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business, the College of Performing and Visual Arts, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Beverly Taylor Sorenson College of Education. The university operates modern helicopter and airplane flight facilities at Cedar City Regional Airport.
Undergraduate admissions evaluate high school GPA (minimum 2.0, average 3.5) on a test-optional basis. Aerospace flight programs require an FAA medical certificate and flight aptitude testing. Graduate admissions require an accredited bachelor's degree with a 3.0+ GPA, statement of purpose, and academic/professional references.
