University of Antwerp - Netherlands Academic Cross-Border Training Center
The Netherlands Academic Cross-Border Training Center of the University of Antwerp connects Belgian and Dutch clinical hospitals, delivering binational accredited medical clerkships, translational pharmaceutical science, and Benelux public health research.
Academic overview & excellence
Operating through bilateral academic clinical agreements between the University of Antwerp (Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences) and major teaching hospitals in the southern Netherlands (Amphia Ziekenhuis Breda and Elisabeth-TweeSteden Ziekenhuis Tilburg), this cross-border center enables Dutch and international medical students to complete accredited clinical rotations and translational health research across the Netherlands-Flanders border corridor.
Research admissions & criteria
Admission to bachelor's degree programs in Medicine requires passing the competitive Flanders Medical Admissions Exam (Toelatingsexamen Arts). Dutch and international applicants with an accredited secondary school diploma (VWO or European equivalent) are eligible to register. Clinical master's electives and doctoral fellowships in translational oncology and infectious disease epidemiology require an accredited medical degree (MD) or MSc in biomedical sciences and Dutch C1 proficiency.
