Cultural Heritage and Creativity PhD

The academy lists a doctoral research program in cultural heritage and creativity. Its stated broad research purposes include visual and applied arts, design and new technologies, conservation and restoration, and theories/methods of art. At the launch of the XL cycle, the university described two streams: Design and Innovation for the Environment and Person and Cultural Heritage and Contemporary Arts. These are historical confirmed streams, not a promise of places in every later cycle.

The XLI-cycle call for the 2025/26 academic year and its English-language call and application attachments are published on the official doctoral page. The academy published the definitive selection results in February 2026. No open XLII-cycle admission deadline or number of funded places was confirmed in this review.

2026/27 admissions and deadlines

The academy's 2026/27 notice opened first- and second-cycle enrolment from 21 July 2026. Entry competitions for non-artistic secondary qualification holders closed on 24 September 2026 for Graphic Design and 1 October 2026 for the remaining named first-cycle disciplines. Direct first-cycle enrolment for appropriate artistic qualification holders and second-cycle enrolment closed on 8 October 2026. Those published dates have passed as of this review and should not be represented as open.

For second-cycle applicants, closely corresponding first-cycle academic diplomas or suitable recognized foreign qualifications can support direct entry. Other applicants may require individual evaluation, verification of prior studies and additional academic requirements. Doctoral competitions are separate from these diploma registrations.

Doctoral scholarships, Erasmus and study costs

At the inauguration of the XL cycle in 2024, the academy announced four ministry-funded doctoral scholarships, split across its two research streams. This number is historical; it is not a confirmed scholarship count for 2026/27. The XLI cycle later published a scholarship winner ranking and final results; always open a new cycle's full bando to confirm stipend, places and restrictions.

Erasmus+ mobility funding exists for study (SMS) and traineeships (SMP). The announced 2026/27 cycle carried a 22 June 2026 application deadline, which has passed. Neither program is an automatic award for incoming international applicants. Tuition and contributions depend on the official current regulations.

Research community and academic contacts

The academy identifies an internal doctoral board with professors in art history, design and anthropology, among other areas. These are confirmed institutional academic roles, not verified paid vacancies or open supervisor offers. Contact an appropriate scholar only after reviewing the current PhD research rules.

Practical checklist before applying

  1. Choose first-cycle, second-cycle or research doctorate; they have different entry systems.
  2. Check the exact current call, its dates and whether your foreign qualification is acceptable.
  3. Review both curriculum and fee notices rather than relying on an estimated universal tuition figure.
  4. For doctoral entry, prepare a research proposal and identify relevant doctoral board members.
  5. For any funding claim, look for a published bando showing active places, scholarship value and deadline.
